William R. Bowen, Jr, age 83, of Navarre, passed away peacefully Thursday, January 23, 2020. Bill was born in Canton to the late William and Helen (Waller) Bowen. He was a 1955 Lincoln High School graduate and served in the Signal Corps in the US Army. Bill retired in 1997 from the Timken Company and served on the Middlebranch #4 Fire Department from 1970 – 1982 and 2 ½ years as Fire Chief. He married Dorothy Hutchison June 5, 2010. Bill enjoyed gardening, was a talented woodcarver and enjoyed fast cars. He was a member of Reedurban Presbyterian Church, Hall of Fame Woodcarvers, Eagles 2370, American Legion Post 44, Timken Retiree Breakfast Club, Lunch Bunch Group and Lincoln Alumni.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his first wife, Wanda and sons, Dirk and David. He is survived by his wife Dorothy, son, Douglas (Dawn) Bowen; grandson, Kalen (Sarah) Bowen; Stepsons, Greg (Kaye) Gottshall, Michael (Holly) Gottshall; numerous step-grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday, February 1, 2020 in Reedurban Presbyterian Church with Dr. Rev. Darrell Holmes officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service in church.
