Steven J. Ready, went home to be with the Lord, Saturday, August 14th from cardiac arrest. He was born in Omaha, NE on January 17, 1950, and graduated from Lehman High School in 1969. He served as a Bailiff for the Canton Municipal Court, before joining the Stark County Sherriff’s Office in 1978. During his tenure Steven attended the F.B.I. Academy, served on the Fugitive/Violent Crimes Task Force, headed the Metro Narcotics Unit, and was appointed Inspector of the Department serving in that capacity five years before his retirement in 2005. After retirement he worked security at Stark State University and served as Secretary of the Canton Cemetery Board of Directors.
Steven was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Stephanie Ready and his brothers, James and Richard Ready. He is survived by his beloved wife of 35 years, Judie; daughter, Meghan Boettler (Ryan); Sister, Barbara Beasley; Brother, David Ready and Sister In-Laws, Dianne and Lisa Ready. Grandson’s Reese and Riley Boettler; granddaughter, Hannah Spencer (Alex); great grandson, Grayson David Spencer, and five nieces and nephews.
