Steven Dean Widener

Canton, OH - Steve, 65 years old, unexpectedly passed away in his sleep on 8/20/2016. Originally from Miami County, OH, Steve was a man with many talents who spent his life in a variety of states. Just a few of Steve's most treasured memories included growing up on a farm, having a father who taught him invaluable skills, advancing to a Senior Airman with the U.S. Air Force, flying cargo for Harold's Air Service while stationed in AK, being a certified flight instructor in Vero Beach, FL, the early years of his children's lives (especially on the soccer field), being in ministry in TN, professionally flying for Eastern Airlines, walking his daughters down the aisle, being in law enforcement in AR, seeing his son enter the U.S. Marine Corps, returning to flight recreationally in recent years, and his vacations to Russia. Proceeding Steve in death were his father Herbert Widener, mother Esther Widener (nee Shoemaker), brothers Bobby Widener and Richard Widener, and sister Katherine Stephens. Survivors include Steve's sister Patricia Gilliland of New Carlisle, OH, children Craig Widener (Sarah) of Bowling Green, KY, Dawn Licht (Steve) of Spring Hill, TN, Sarah Widener-Yu of Madison, TN, Elizabeth Ferrara (David) of Spring Hill, TN, Joshua Widener (Hillary) of Murfreesboro, TN, Seth Widener and ex-wife Carly Mussey-Widener of Canton, OH, girlfriend Nataly Petrovskaya, nieces, nephews, and 18 grandchildren. The family wishes to thank all who have outpoured love and support following Steve's sudden passing. One day we shall meet again Steve … until then you will live on in our memories. A viewing will be held at Arnold Funeral Home in Canton, OH on Sunday 8/28/16, 3:00-4:00 p.m. with a service to follow at 4:00 p.m. A military service will be held at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Seville, OH on Tuesday 8/30/16 at 2:30 p.m.
