Samuel George Obituary


Samuel “Jay” George, age 97, of Jackson Township, passed away on Monday August 23, 2021 at Altercare of Louisville. He was born in Marlboro, Ohio on July 17, 1924 to the late Lester and Velma George. He graduated from Timken High School and was an Army WW II Veteran. Jay's career as an Industrial Engineer ranged from positions at Union Metal to Babcock and Wilcox. His favorite job was working as Head Custodian for the Jackson Local School System from which he retired. He was a volunteer fireman and a principal founding member of Jackson Township Station 2. During retirement Jay enjoyed living in Florida, walking his dog Titan and bowling with his buddies. He had a love of carpentry and built numerous pieces of furniture and remodeled homes. He especially loved his family, God and Country and was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He would do anything for anyone. Jay would always tell his grandsons "Do your best and forget the rest." 
He was preceded in death by his wife Gloria and 5 siblings. Jay is survived by his daughter Sheryl Gesquiere, grandsons Justin (Kathy) Gesquiere and Aaron (Erin) Gesquiere, grandchildren Adrian, Brianna, Kaylee and Adam Gesquiere, brother Willard (Norma) George and numerous other relatives and friends. 

Calling hours are Friday 10-11 AM at Arnold Funeral Home Hartville. Funeral services begin Friday at 11 AM. Final resting place is Rose Hill Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Jackson Township Fire Department.
