Ruth Green was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend. She left this world on November 12 at age 93. Ruth was born to Solomon and Tillie Speyer in Massillon, Ohio. She grew up with her darling and protective older brothers, Jack and Harry Speyer. Ruth married Bernie Ress, and they shared many happy years together with their family in Canton, Ft. Wayne, and Indianapolis. She later married Bernie Green, who was also her high school sweetheart, and they enjoyed decades of love and friendship. Ruth is survived by three daughters, Lynn Giles (Indianapolis), Penny Ress (Chicago), and Amy Ress (Los Angeles), along with stepchildren Ginger Green (Canton), and Mike Green (California). She adored her grandchildren Trisha and Bradley Miller, Alexandra Ress Johnson, and David and Nicholas Green. Ruth will also be remembered by her great grandchildren, Theo Goodstein, and David, Adam, and Yoona Kang Miller.
Ruth was beautiful, intelligent, and strong. She had a sharp wit and a deep commitment to women’s rights and equality. One of her favorite expressions was “never let anything defeat you.” She treasured her family and life with her two Bernies.
Many thanks go out to the wonderful staff at Sanctuary Grande for all of their loving care.
