Paul W. Kamerer, age 101, of Hartville, passed away Wednesday evening, April 26, 2023.
He was born September 18, 1921, in Hartville, to William and Eva (Shatzer) Kamerer and was a 1939 graduate of Hartville High School. He enlisted in the Army and served as a medic in the Pacific Theatre during World War II. He was a building contractor for many years and retired from the Schumacher Lumber Company. Paul was an active member at Advent Lutheran Church where he was a member of the choir and a Sunday School teacher. He was a volunteer fireman and paramedic for the Hartville Fire Department and served as Assistant Chief for many years. Paul also enjoyed working with Habitat for Humanity and served on the Board for the YMCA and the Canton branch of the American Automobile Association (AAA).
Paul was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. His wife, Martha, passed away May 3, 2006. He is survived by his children, Jane (Dennis) Earlenbaugh, Jim (Barb) Kamerer, and Carol (David) Boldi; nine grandchildren; and four great grandchildren. He is also survived by brother, Owen Kamerer, sister-in-law, Virginia Kamerer, and many nieces and nephews.
A private family committal will take place at Mt. Peace Cemetery. A memorial/celebration of life service for Paul will be held Wednesday, May 3, 2023, at 11:00 AM, at Advent Lutheran Church, with Pastor Bob Cheyney Jr. officiating.
