Neal Norman Libster

January 18, 1926 ~ August 29, 2021 (age 95)


Neal Norman Libster, age 95, passed away on Sunday, August 29, 2021, in Canton. Neal attended and finished one quarter at Ohio State University before entering the Army and serving as an Army Staff Sergeant in Germany for two years. He was present at the Battle of The Bulge. Neal was awarded the Bronze Star Medal, received the Combat Infantry Badge, and Presidential Unit Citation. After the war he returned to Ohio State and graduated with an accounting degree. Neal worked in real estate and development. He is past president of B’nai B’rith, Temple Israel Brotherhood, Human Relations Council of Stark County and Ohio Real Estate Brokers Association. He was active in the Stark County Cancer Society and the Jewish War Veterans. He was a lifelong member of Temple Israel. Neal was blessed with a long full life. He was swimming at the YMCA three days a week until his present illness.

Neal was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Loreen in January 2021, daughter, Marcy Libster Stoll and his first wife Ella. He is survived by his children, Mitchell (Cindy) Libster, Larry (Rebecca) Libster, Steven (Annie) Barnett, Richard (Terri) Barnett, Catherine (James) Holloway, Brenda (Lloyd) Miller and his loving grandchildren and great grandchildren. We are heartbroken and will miss you dearly “Popie”

The family would like to thank Dr. Louis Shaheen and Bethany Skilled Rehab Unit for their expertise and compassionate care.

Private graveside services will be held Friday 10:30 a.m. at North Lawn Cemetery with Rabbi David Komerofsky officiating. Donations are requested to Temple Israel, Bethany Skilled Nursing Center or any Veterans Association. The Funeral service will be live streamed on the Arnold Funeral Home Facebook page.
