Michael D. Swintosky passed away, November 26, 2022, following a valiant battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born in Pottstown, PA on November 8, 1956, to Joseph V. and Dorothy A. (Zevnik) Swintosky, and at the age of 10, moved to Nicholasville, KY. He earned his master’s degree in Metallurgical Engineering from the University of Kentucky and was recruited by Timken Steel, where he spent 38 years dedicating his expertise as a Supply Chain Systems and Support Specialist in the Materials Planning and Scheduling Department. Mike loved every aspect of nature. Mike was active in beekeeping, timber framing, native botanical gardening, and he did extensive conservation work across Ohio. A walk through Beech Creek Nature Preserve, The Wilderness Center Prairies, and the butterfly gardens at the Wilds, are just a few of the extensive legacy he leaves us to enjoy. He was a certified firefighter with Ohio Department of Natural Resources for forestry fires and prescribed prairie burns. Civic minded, Mike was active in supporting many local arts, community development, and neighborhood outreach programs.
He is preceded in death by father Joseph Swintosky. Mike is survived by his wife Lynda Tuttle-Swintosky; stepdaughter Amy Tuttle; Mother Dorothy Swintosky; siblings Joseph Swintosky Jr, Denise (Cambell) Graves, Steven (Amy) Swintosky, John (Marianne) Swintosky, Paul Swintosky, Robert (Ginger) Swintosky, Damian (Nicole) Swintosky, David (Kimberly) Swintosky, Daniel (Ann) Swintosky; 35 nieces and nephews; 4 great nieces and nephews; and a lover of his pets.
Mike was a gentle, adventurous soul, who adored his family and beloved community.
Calling hours will be Friday, December 2nd at the Arnold Funeral Home at 1517 Market Ave N, Canton, OH from 4-8 PM. Memorial mass will be Saturday, December 3rd at St. Paul’s Catholic Church at 241 S Main St, North Canton, OH at 10:30 AM, followed by burial at North Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Lighthouse Ministries, to help further their amazing outreach with youth.
