Margaret Turner (90) of Harrisonburg, Virginia went to be with Our Lord on Tuesday, August 11, 2021.
Margaret was born November 20, 1930 in Midland, Michigan to George P. and Myrtle (Yoder) Yoder. She attended Eastern Mennonite High School where she met her husband, Waldo Neil Turner of Broadway. They were married June 17, 1948, began their marriage farming near Cootes Store, Virginia, and attended Trissel’s Mennonite Church.
In the 1960’s, Neil began building; Margaret paid the bills, raised 4 children, and managed the apartments they also built in Broadway. In 1989, Margaret designed her dream home with her children and grandchildren in mind; Neil built it for her in Fairway Hills. Once in Harrisonburg, they attended the First Church of the Brethren. In retirement, Margaret and Neil traveled and enjoyed their 15 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. In 2015, they moved into the Virginia Mennonite Retirement Community where they enjoyed the company of many life-long friends. They were temporarily living in Hartville with their daughter, Teresa (Turner) and John Peach, and her family to wait out the Covid-19 restrictions. She is survived by her husband, Neil, of 72 years and their 4 children: Gregory (Jenny) Turner of Timberville, VA, Cheryl Turner of Durham, NC, Gary (Debbie) Turner of Harrisonburg, VA, and Teresa (John) Peach of Hartville.
Funeral Service was Monday, August 16th at 10:00 am at Grandle Funeral Home in Broadway, Virginia https://www.grandlefuneralhome.com/ with calling hours 1 hour before the service. Final resting place is at Trissel’s Mennonite Church cemetery.
