Jon R. Gheen

Jon R. Gheen, 78, passed away Feb. 7, 2021. He was born March 11, 1942 in Canton, OH, graduated from Glenwood HS (where he played basketball), attended OSU, and later completed an electronics program. At age 15, Jon began working at the family business, Vee Gee Enterprise Corp., became president and retired in 1997. He loved family, corvettes, practical jokes, the stock market, and winters on Marco Island.  Family, friends and neighbors benefited from his hobby as “Mr. Fix It.”  With his beloved wife of 55 years, he attended Christ Presbyterian Church.

Precededin death by his parents, Delmar and Lauramae, his brother Dr. Del Gheen and brother-in-law Denny Noland. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Gheen; sister, Barbara Noland; son Michael (Jill); daughter, Kristi Blankenship (Tony); grandchildren, Brianna Gheen Wolcott (Ryan), Sydney Fé Blankenship, and Seth Blankenship; step grandsons, Russ and Cam Rogers. He enjoyed knowing he had a great-granddaughter, Emily Belle Wolcott. Survivors also include nephew, Steve Noland (Dana); niece, Wendy Carroll (Jeff) and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Our sincere thanks for the support of family, friends, and the Massillon Danbury Memory Care staff and Hospice during Jon’s Alzheimer’s and COVID journey. Immediate family gathered to honor Jon on Friday with Pastor David de Vries officiating. Memorial services and life celebration will be held when we can safely enjoy each other’s company.
