John M. Watt, age 77, of Alliance, went home to be with the Lord on March 31, 2021 in the comfort of his home with his family by his side after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born July 10, 1943 in Providence, RI to the late Wendell and Lily (McCallum) Watt. Following high school graduation, he moved to Ohio and met his wife LaVonne, who he married on April 12, 1975. John spent 31 years and 7 months working for the Timken Company. He enjoyed tending to his train collection, making crafts and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife LaVonne; children Brian Watt of Canton, Scott Watt of Florida, and Jason (Lindsay) Watt of North Canton; grandchildren Lucas and Austin; brother Richard (Lori) of Wisconsin; along with sister-in-law and brother-in-law, SaDara and Jim Tilley, and sister-in-law Shirley Sheaffer and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by brother-in-law Lauren Sheaffer.
Calling hours will be Tuesday, April 6 from 10 AM – 12 PM at the Arnold Funeral Home at 1517 Market Ave N. Funeral services will follow at 12 PM with Pastor Elden Smith officiating. Final resting place will be at Sunset Hills Burial Park. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the Alliance Hospice Care for their caring support in John’s last weeks. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Faith Community Church or Alliance Friends Church.
