John Henry Hilmer, age 55, of Hartville went home to be with the Lord on February 16,2021 in the comfort of his home with his mother by his side. He was born on December 24, 1965 in Denver, Colorado. He moved to Iowa with his family in 1974 to a farm his father had inherited. John Henry Hilmer, age 55, of Hartville went home to be with the Lord on February 16,2021 in the comfort of his home with his mother by his side. He was born on December 24, 1965 in Denver, Colorado. He moved to Iowa with his family in 1974 to a farm his father had inherited. In 1978 the family moved to Bandon, Oregon. They also lived in Yoncalla, Oregon where they farmed. He received a degree in Chemistry in 1995 in LaGrand, Oregon, while there he restored the FM station for Eastern Oregon State. His graduate school was CUNY in New York City. In 2010 he returned to Ohio and worked with Mennonite Disaster Service and later worked for Arizona Chemical in Dover, OH. He often arranged his vacations to serve with MDS. He also worked with local plumbing companies and a metal company in Cleveland. John made many friends and enjoyed his relatives and the local people in Hartville. 

Preceded in death by his father Elwyn; and baby sibling. He is survived by his mother Mary; brother Andrew of Portland, Oregon; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. 

A memorial service will be scheduled in the spring. Memories or condolences can be shared at the Arnold funeral home website. Memorial contributions may be made to Evermore Community Church for MDS or Eli House. The family thanks everyone from the Mercy Hospital and Mercy Hospice for their love and care.
