John Berardi, a resilient individual who faced life's challenges with a smile, peacefully departed this world on January 20, 2024, at the age of 75. Throughout his recent years battling medical issues, John's unwavering courage became a testament to his enduring spirit. Born and raised in Akron's North Hill neighborhood, John, alongside his siblings, embraced a rich Italian American heritage instilled with pride—a sentiment that guided him throughout his entire life. A proud graduate of Archbishop Hoban High School in 1966, he pursued higher education at both Ohio State and Akron Universities.
During his life, John developed a remarkable career at the M&L Supply Company, a journey spanning over 50 years. His dedication not only defined his professional legacy but also epitomized the value he placed on relationships. It was through his work that he met and married his true love, Cheryl. As a veteran of the United States Army, John is preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Annita Berardi, his brother David Berardi, sister Debra Michalec, and nephew Andrew Michalec. He leaves behind a legacy of love survived by his wife of 47 years, Cheryl, and their three children: Anne (David) Leach, John (Caryn) Berardi, and Stephen (Katie) Berardi. Additionally, he is remembered fondly by his five grandchildren: Andrew and Alex Leach, Ben and Ryan Berardi, and Maren Berardi.
The family will receive friends Saturday, January 27 from 12:00 – 2:00 pm at the Arnold Funeral Home 1517 Market Ave N., Canton, OH. A memorial service will begin at 2:00 with Fr John Keener as celebrant. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are requested to the American Lung Association.
