Joel Jagger Obituary

Joel Kent Jagger, age 64, formerly of North Canton and recently of Akron passed away on Sunday, September 29.  Joe was born in Canton to the late Orlo and Beulah (Mowls) Jagger.  Joe was a graduate of Hoover High School where he was All County in football and baseball.  Though he spent most of his life in the heating and air conditioning business, in retirement he was a handyman for friends and family.  Joe’s favorite pastime was golf and on the Tuesday before he passed, he beat his brother, Todd rather handily at Firestone.  This past June he backpacked a portion of the Arizona Trail with the “Balding Eagles” which included his brother, Terry, aka Moses and nephew, Evan, aka Wildfire.  Joe’s trail name was Chief Pringle.  Previously he backpacked in the Grand Canyon on several occasions and skydived this summer with special friend, Dennis Lux.  Joe’s passion for art, sports, animals, the outdoors, friends and family was evident to all who knew him, especially his love for his grandchildren.  He is survived by his beloved wife Valorie; daughter Brittney Pizor both of Akron; son Kurt Matie; granddaughters Jaliyah, Janelle, Jazelynn, and Journie; brothers Todd (Debbie) Jagger of North Canton and Terry (Judi) Jagger of Stow.  Joe was very proud of maintaining his sobriety for the past three years.  Joe’s family would like to acknowledge the owners, workers and patrons of A Walk in the Park Cafe in Firestone Park for their friendship.  Joe donated the proceeds from art he sold there to their non-profit, Unlimited Imagination Foundation, which provides art supplies to children who could not otherwise afford them.  The family is certain that Joe would be thrilled if anyone desiring to make a memorial contribution supported this foundation at 1491 Aster Avenue Akron, Ohio 44301.   A casual memorial service and celebration of life, officiated by Joe’s nephew, Pastor Brad Jagger, will be held in Firestone Park Community Center at 1480 Girard St. Akron, OH 44301 on October 19 at 3:00 PM. Those attending are welcome to wear “Joe Informal Attire”.  As Joe would say, “It’s All Good”!
