Joel Raiford Bennett, age 65 of Massillon, passed away in his home surrounded by family and friends on Sunday, May 2, 2021. He was born August 10, 1955 in Adel, Georgia to Whiley Raiford and Edna Mae (Thompson) Bennett.
Joel was a member of Southside Church of God in Alliance. He was a Truck Driver for Thomas Trucking in Macedonia and loved experiencing the country through is travels. He was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather. He also loved farming, fishing, Georgia Bulldog Football and especially the Atlanta Braves.
Joel is survived by his wife of 37 years, Linda Ilene (Hostetler) Bennett; son, Jason Joel Bennett and granddaughter, Jordyn Nellie Bennett; foster mother, Alice (Huber) Ebersole of Blountstown, Florida; brothers, Johnny (Brenda) Coleman and Grable Coleman of Fitsgerald, Georgia, Marlin Ebersole of Blountstown; sisters, Cynthia (Jerry) Yoder of Rustburg, Virginia, Beadie Pontow of Sarasota, Florida, Arlene (Floyd) Mast of LaGrange, Indiana and Mary Alice (James) Hoover of Whiteville, Tennessee.
In addition to his birth parents he is preceded in death by his foster dad, David Ebersole; sister, Myrtle (Bertrand) Hinley; mother-in-law; father-in-law; brother-in-law; sister-in-law.
Calling hours are Tuesday 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the Arnold Funeral Home in Hartville. Funeral services will begin Tuesday at 10:30 with Vern Hostetler and Dennis Hostetler officiating. Interment will follow in Walnut Grove Cemetery.
