Jennifer Dover Obituary

We celebrate our dynamic and beautiful mother, wife, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, Lala, and friend Jennifer Lucille (Culp) Dover who went home to her Lord and Savior Jesus on October 30th, 2023, peacefully surrounded by her family in Canton, Ohio.

Jennifer was born in Canton, Ohio on July 21st , 1946 to Elizabeth (Sliman) and Clarence Culp. A family proud of their heritage of Lebanese, German, and English descent.

She met the love of her life, Ralph Dover, as kids growing up in the Northeast end of Canton. Their first official date was at the Central Catholic Frolic. They fell madly in love and married two years later in 1967. Jennifer and Ralph were happily together and in love for over 60 years. They enjoyed dancing, card club, laughing, cooking family meals, making memories, and creating a family together.

After graduating from Canton Central Catholic, Jennifer attended Mercy Nursing School and worked at Mercy Hospital in downtown Canton. She began raising a family and continued to do so while private duty nursing. Raising her family she taught us a love for laughter, reading, cooking, dancing (including a dance group for mothers), sports (she was 1975 St Paul’s Canton softball champion), creating a home for everyone in the neighborhood, encouraged imagination, compassion, instilling confidence, and autonomy.

Upon returning to work as a nurse and continuing her education, she went on to develop the Substance Abuse Treatment and Recovery community in Stark County Ohio. Her accomplishments include starting Quest Recovery’s Deliverance House - the first residential home for women and children, Alcohol and Drug Board member, and integral part of Stark County TASC. Her no nonsense hands-on approach to treatment led her to helping hundreds and her name is still said aloud in the recovery community.

Jenny loved life, her family, and learning. She was always up for a conversation, loving to know others. She was spunky, creative, hilarious, honest, kind, gentle, and generous. Her signature smile lit up every room.

Jennifer is preceded in death by her parents and sisters Linda (infant) and Sue Culp. Jennifer is survived by her husband Ralph and five children: daughters Stephanie (John) Furgiuele, Ann (Craig) Cuchra, Karen (Terry) Allen, Cathy (Jeff) Dick, and son Michael (Laura). Her eight beautiful grandchildren: Nicholas, Anna Marie, and Olivia Furgiuele, Ella and Charlie Cuchra, Casey Allen, Mary and Michael Dover. Her siblings: Cathy (Jim) Mannos, David Culp, Michael Culp, Sally (Mike) Hukill, and in-laws Raymond Dover, and Renee (Mark) Jordan, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. And she adored her fur babies: Rudy, Maggie, Lily, Cali, Eddie, Soup, Harley, and Layla.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday November 11th, 2023, in the chapel at Faith Family Church 8200 Freedom Ave NW, North Canton, Ohio 44720. Family will receive friends from 9:30–11am with the church service to follow in the chapel.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jennifer Dover’s name to Gwen’s House P.O. Box 2855 North Canton, Ohio, 44720 to help women after incarceration overcoming addiction and support in all areas of life, something Jennifer was passionate about.
