Janie Zoldan Obituary

Jane Altman Zoldan, 55, passed away on February 16th two days after her 55th Valentine’s Day Birthday. Jane was born February 14th, 1966 at Aultman Hospital in Canton, Ohio to Robert and Ruth Altman. She graduated from GlenOak High School in 1983 after finishing in just three years and then went on to attend The Ohio State University. Jane was a member of the Alpha Epsilon Phi sorority and graduated with an education degree, focusing on developmentally handicapped children. In 2014, Jane bravely survived a bone marrow and stem-cell transplant from an anonymous donor as part of her winning battle against the blood cancer Lymphoma. The anonymous donor was later revealed as Benjamin Triebs of Munich, Germany. Jane and her family have been and will be perpetually grateful for the selfless gift that Benjamin gave her. Jane enjoyed playing cards and mahjong with her friends, cooking with her mother, and spending as much time as possible with her husband, children, and grandchild. Jane’s persistent kindness and positivity was an inspiration to all those around her and will forever be remembered.

Jane is survived by her husband of 33 beautiful and joyous years, Michael, whom she married on July 12, 1987; children, Alexis (Shawn) Schlessel, Gabrielle (Jake) Miller, Harrison Zoldan; grandchild Sylvia Schlessel; brothers, Rick (Bobbi) Altman, Lou (Christie) Altman; parents Robert and Ruth Altman; and numerous Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Nieces and Nephews.

The family wishes to thank the exceptional Doctors, Nurses and Team Members at the Cleveland Clinic and Mercy Hospital for all of the love and world-class health care Jane was given over the last nine years.

A private funeral service for family will be held Thursday, February 18th 2:00 PM at the Canton Hebrew Cemetery and will be available online by visiting the Arnold Funeral Home Facebook page.

Donations can be made in Jane’s honor to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Light the Night Team known as “Janie’s Jewels” that she founded in 2015.
