Janet K. Cassler, age 94 of Canton, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, March 26. Janet was born at Aultman Hospital on February 5, 1927 to Harry and Gertrude (Boose) Klingstedt.
Jan was a proud lifetime resident of Canton and life member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. She graduated from Lehman High School in 1945, received her Bachelor's degree from the Western College for Women in Oxford, Ohio (now Miami University) and attended the American Academy of Art in Chicago and the Cleveland School of Art. Jan worked as a commercial fashion illustrator, where she did newspaper and sign illustrations for many Chicago and Canton-area stores. She continued on as a Wardrobe Consultant at O’Neils in Belden Village from the time it opened. Jan enjoyed volunteer work for her church, the Junior League, Canton Symphony and other organizations where she used her creative talents to enhance their fund raising efforts.
Mrs. Cassler had an indelible passion for life who was blessed to age so gracefully, and have so many wonderful friends and family she dearly loved. She was always willing to help others in need, locally and around the world.
She is survived by sons Jim (Karen) and John (Lisa) Cassler, daughter Nancy Suba; grandchildren Brian and Andrew Cassler, Victoria and Johnathan Suba; sister Nancy Higgins, and many devoted nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Carolyn Loos, and E.H. "Heinie" Cassler.
