James McClung Obituary

James A. McClung, age 72, of Canton passed away unexpectedly on July 5, 2021, at Mercy Hospital. He was born June 6, 1944, in Richwood, WV to Theodore and Geraldine (Tharpe) McClung. He moved to Canton, Ohio at age 10 following the death of his father. He graduated from Timken High School in 1967 and began working at Palmier as a tool and die maker. He was one of the first employees at Redicon and served as a mechanical engineer. In 1993 he formed his own company, Can Industry Products, he ultimately retired from Stolle in 2014.

He married Maxine (Crawford) McClung in 1970, they built a beautiful life together raising daughter Amanda (McClung) McWilliams. He loved spending time with his wife, daughter, son in law Brett McWilliams and grandson Grant. When he was not spending time with his family, he spent his free time taking care of his farm in West Virginia.

He is survived by his wife Maxine; daughter and son in law Amanda and Brett McWilliams; grandson Grant McWilliams; brother Earl McClung; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Donna and Dewey Tharpe; many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Calling hours will be Thursday, July 8 from 6-8 PM at the Arnold Funeral Home in Canton. Funeral services will be Friday, July 9 at 2 PM  with  Rev. Don Ackerman officiating. Final resting place will be  North Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to: Crossroads United Methodist Church 120 Cleveland Ave SW, Canton, OH 44702. Please sign the guest book.
