Howard L. Linz, age 82, passed away on March 25, 2015 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Canton on July 10, 1932. He was a 1950 graduate of McKinley High School and was awarded his Bachelor of Arts from Capital University and Masters in Educational Administration from Kent State University. He served with the U.S. Army in Korea from 1955 to 1957. He was employed by the Canton City Schools for thirty five years, twenty eight as an elementary principal at Lathrop, Wells and Clarendon Schools. Preceded in death by his parents, Lukas and Regina Linz. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Partricia (Neel); daughter Ellen Linz, sons and daughters-in-law: Dr. Michael and Tina Linz and Dr. David and Amanda Linz. Treasured grandchildren Alexander and Emma Martino and Lauren, McKayla, Meghan and Madison Linz and Dr. Christopher Linz. Brother and sister-in-law Edward and Nancy Zelmer and sister-in-law Donna Zelmer. Howard was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Life member of the National Education Association and Ohio Education Association, Friends of the Library, Canton Saxons and Phi Delta Kappa. He was past president of the Canton Principal's Dept. and Towne Toastmasters and was actively involved with OEA, Phi Delta Kappa, Stark County Retired Teachers Association and recognized as a Martha Holden Jennings Scholar. His special interests included theater, music, travel, sports, reading and card playing. A heartfeltl thanks is sent from Howard and the family to Tina Linz for her loving care she so willingly provided during his illness. We are blessed to have her as part of the family. Funeral service will be Saturday 10:00 A.M. in Holy Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. Mark Williams officiating. Interment will be in North Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call on Friday from 5 to 8 P.M. in the Spiker-Foster-Shriver Funeral Home 4817 Cleveland Ave., N.W.
