Ellis G. Erb, age 87 of Hartville went home to be with the Lord Friday April 28, 2023. He was born July 13, 1935, in Hartville to Dan and Sevilla (Miller) Erb. Ellis founded Ellis Erb Construction Inc., Lake Realty and Ellis Erb Farms. He loved farming his whole life, raised beef cattle and operated Lake-O-Pines Campground. He was passionate about taking care of his town and giving back to the community. He served the Village of Hartville as the Street Commissioner and served several terms as a Lake Township Trustee. The Lake Township Chamber of Commerce presented the Lifetime Achievement award to Ellis recognizing his unselfish commitment of time and resources to make everything in Lake Township better. The organizations and community projects he supported are too numerous to mention. Ellis was a devoted member of Middlebranch Grace Brethren Church.
Ellis is survived by his wife of 68 years, Janice (Besse) Erb; children, Dennis (Jean) Erb, Thomas (Becky) Erb, Bruce (Amy) Erb, Judy Markland; 10 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren; sisters, Sarah (Marvin) Broadwater, Lorie Manko, Mary (Laverne) Wittmer; brothers, Wayne Erb, Dan (Norma) Erb, Larry (Linda) Erb, William (Anna) Erb and sister-in-law Sylvia Erb. Preceded in death by brother John Erb, sisters, Zelda Eisenberger, Arlene Hostetler and Leona Erb. Calling hours will be Thursday, May 4, 12:00 noon to 2:00 and 5-7:00 pm at Evermore Community Church 1470 Smith-Kramer ST NE. Following private family burial on Friday, the public Memorial Service to celebrate and remember Ellis Erb’s life will be Saturday 11:00 a.m. at Evermore Community Church.
