Eldon R. Wolf, age 87, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, August 28, 2023, in his home. He was born in Hartville, Ohio on April 20, 1936, to late Ivan D. and Ruth M. (Shoemaker) Wolf and attended Lake Schools. Following school, Eldon began a brief career in the farming, blacktop, and general maintenance industries. He then went to work for H.B. Stewart as a groundskeeper, and eventually the land was transferred to Quail Hollow State Park. Eldon was fortunate to work there through its sale to the State of Ohio, where he continued his job with the state as a heavy equipment operator through his retirement.
Eldon was happiest reminiscing about the past, his time farming, and spending time outdoors, especially the Ohio State Parks. Eldon’s love of Hartville could only be surpassed by his great love for his whole family. His children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, and his beloved Cat, Charlie, were the lights of his life these past years following the passing of his wife Roberta in 2017.
Eldon was raised at East Nimishillen Church of the Brethren, where he attended his entire life. Eldon held roles varying from Deacon, Youth Group leader, and Trustee.
Along with his wife, he is preceded in death by his brother Vernon in 2017. He is survived by his children Bruce (Chris) Wolf and Lisa Hammonds (Dina Tisi); grandchildren Melissa Slusni and Jenna (Bryan) Scafidi; beloved sister Arlene Deardorff whom he enjoyed speaking with often.
Calling hours will be Thursday, August 31 at East Nimishillen Church of the Brethren from 2-5 PM with funeral services beginning at 5 PM. Following the funeral, a meal will be served in the Church reception hall.
