Edward F. Zelmer, 90, of Canton passed away peacefully at Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital on Saturday, May 6, 2023. He was born October 22, 1932, to the late Reinhold and Edith (Klebaum) Zelmer. Ed graduated from McKinley High School where he played varsity baseball and remained an avid Bulldog booster the rest of his life. He was employed by Republic Steel after high school and retired from LTV.
In 1954 Ed married the love of his life Nancy (Neel) Zelmer with whom he would have celebrated 69 years of marriage next month. He was a lifelong member of First Lutheran Church in Canton.
In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by his brothers Robert and Richard Zelmer, brother-in-law Howard Linz, sisters-in-law Donna and Beverly Zelmer and nephew Mark Zelmer.
Ed is lovingly remembered by his wife Nancy, sister-in-law Pat Linz and 9 nieces and nephews: Laurie, Kim, Beau (Rhonda), Craig, Erich (Lisa) and Jeff (Brandon) Zelmer; Michael (Tina), David (Amanda) and Ellen Linz. He was also "Uncle Ed" to 18 grand nieces and nephews and several great grand nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Friday, May 12, 2023, at 12:30 p.m. at the Arnold & Spiker-Foster-Shriver Funeral Home at 4817 Cleveland Ave NW with Pastor Diana Thompson officiating. Family and friends will be received one hour before the service. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery
