Dorothea "Dorothy" E. Shriver, age 96, of Canton, passed away Tuesday one day before her 97th birthday. Dorothy was born in Canton at home on Henry Avenue S.W. to the late James and Hazel Seccombe and was a life resident. She was a 1939 graduate of Lehman High School and attended Penn Hall Girl's School in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania. Dorothy was a life member of First United Church of Christ (First Church of the Resurrection). In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her former husband, Claude W. Shriver, and a brother, James Seccombe, Jr. She is survived by a daughter, Claudia L. Bair, and her husband, Bruce of N. Canton; two sons, James N. Shriver of Naples, Florida and Claude W. Shriver, II(Skip) and his wife, Linda of Canton; six grandchildren, Jeffrey (Stephanie) and Andrew Bair, Kathryn (Art) Aguirre, Jonathan (Meghan), Jason (Sarah) and Jennifer Shriver; six great grandchildren, Kaylin Aguirre, Ashtyn, Leah, Maeve, Callum and Bowen Shriver. In keeping with her wishes a private family service will be observed with a private interment in North Lawn Cemetery. The family wants to acknowledge the Baum family and their entire staff at Bethany Nursing Home for their love, care and concern for Dorothy.
