Obituary

Donna Marie McVay, 63, of Canton, Ohio went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 3, 2017, her first birthday in Heaven. She was born in Canton on October 3rd, 1954 to the late Denzil and Lois (Ray) Carpenter and graduated from Carrollton High School in 1973. Donna later moved to Powhatan Point, Ohio where she met her loving husband of 35 years, Garen McVay, and started a family. They later relocated to East Sparta, Ohio. Donna devoted her life to being a mother. She was present at every school function as a room mom or spectator, she served as a Girl Scout leader, she taught Sunday School, and she prided herself on never missing a single moment. Her effervescent laughter, eye-rolls, and sarcasm were her trademarks, but her huge heart is what really endeared her to others. Donna was a woman who loved deeply, passionately, and completely. No sacrifice was too great for her family, and her sacrificial love made her an irreplaceable treasure. Even though the world lost a sweet selfless soul, her legacy of love will endure, and she will never be forgotten. Donna was preceded in death by her parents Denzil and Lois; brother, Bill Carpenter; and sisters, Carolyn Beagle and Bonnie Lacey. She is survived by her husband, Garen McVay; four daughters, Jessica McVay, Amanda (Brad) Nickerson, Kariann (Jerry) Miller, and Melissa (Doug) English; brothers, Jon (Jen) Carpenter and Larry (Judy) Carpenter; grandchildren, Reid, Cora, Hannah, Colton, and Grant; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 on Saturday, October 7, 2017. Friends will be received for two hours before services (9-11 a.m.) Services will be officiated by Pastor Scott Nelson at Arnold Funeral Home, 1517 Market Ave. N, Canton, OH 44714. A reception will follow. Donna will be interred with her husband at a later date, per her request, as they truly believed they became one the day they became man and wife; may we all love with such abandon and fervor.
