Delores Dickinson, age 88, formerly of Canton, Ohio passed away March 27, 2021 at Thistle House Senior Center in Chardon. She was born January 11, 1933 in Boardman, Ohio to Rankin and Emma (Ryan) Pounders. Delores graduated from Boardman High School in 1951 and married her husband, Rolland Dickinson, in 1958. She graduated from Kent State University with a Bachelor of Education degree and Walsh University with a Master’s in Counseling. Delores taught fifth grade at Fairless Local (Navarre) and Canton City (Woodland) Schools. After working as a public school teacher, Delores was a leader in Christian Education and Formation for over 25 years. She worked as a family and children’s minister at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Canton and St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Akron. She served the Diocese of Ohio for 30 years and as Senior Warden on the vestry at St. Paul’s, Canton.
In addition to her parents, Delores was preceded in death by her husband (Rolland) and brother-in-law (Harold). She is survived by her daughters Julie (Stephen) Gittins of Chardon, Jennifer (Dave) Ellenberger of Canal Fulton and sister Marilyn (Harold) Dickinson of Massillon. Drew, Matthew, Emma and Melanie Gittins and Rachel and David Ellenberger (grandchildren) were dearly loved by Delores.

Pandemic dependent, a memorial service will be held in Canton at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 8th. Before attending, please contact the church at 330-455-0286 ahead of time for updated Covid protocols.
