David M. Hagerty

December 5, 1953 ~ May 16, 2022 (age 68)

David Michael Hagerty peacefully entered eternity with Jesus his Savior on May 16, 2022 after a lengthy illness.

He was born Dec. 5, 1953 in Salina, Kansas to Wilfred Hagerty and Sylvia (Wolters) Hagerty. Due to his father's military service David spent his early childhood years in Kansas, Georgia and Virginia. The Hagerty family settled permanently in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho in 1963.

David graduated from Coeur d'Alene high school in 1972 and proceeded to earn his AA degree from North Idaho Community College. He was employed by Battelle at Pacific Northwest National Labratory (PNNL) in Richland, WA for 36 years as a research designer.

After committing his life to Jesus at the age of 28, David enjoyed Christian fellowship at Calvary Chapel TriCities in Kennewick.
He and his wife Barbara (Bright) White were married on June 23, 2001. His goal as a husband was to love his wife as Christ loved the Church, and he truly loved her well. Upon feeling that the Lord told him to "take Barbara home", they relocated to Carrollton, Ohio in Feb 2021.

David was a simple, straightforward man who enjoyed many things in life. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steeler fan, liked road trips near and far, enjoyed photography, visiting historic landmarks, and video editing. NASA and space exploration fascinated David. One of his fondest memories was being able to meet and shake hands with Charlie Duke, one of the astronauts from the Apollo 16 mission to the moon.

Having been raised in a military family David was extremely patriotic and loved his country. One of his greatest regrets in life was not being able to serve when he was drafted for the Vietnam War. He had the utmost respect for those who served our country and was quick to thank them and acknowledge their service and sacrifice.

He was blessed to have two fur babies, Chewy and Chazz, both rescue dogs. David's worldview was influenced by the Bible and his favorite verse regarding his pets is from Proverbs 12:10: "A righteous man regards the life of his animal...".

David will be greatly missed by family and friends. He is survived by his wife Barbara, sisters Vicki (Ron) Okon of Dalton Gardens, ID, Susan (William) Severson of Post Falls, ID, Theresa (Leonard) Jones of Shelton, WA,  several nieces and nephews, mother-in-law Jean Bright of Carrollton and five brothers-in-law. Preceding him in death were his parents and nephew Heath Okon of Sandpoint, ID.

A memorial service will be held at Calvary Chapel Canton (Ohio), date yet to be determined, and his remains will eventually be interred in Coeur d'Alene, ID.
In lieu of flowers or gifts to the family, donations can be made to the  Humane Society nearest you, or to the Yakima County Humane Society, 2405 W Birchfield Rd., Yakima, WA 98901.
