Alice "Jiggs" Madeline Leyo

Alice “Jiggs” Ginter Leyo, age 97, of Hartville passed away on Wednesday February 17, 2021. She was born in Blandburg, PA on July 29, 1923 to the late Wade and Pearl Mulhollem and grew up in Mountaindale, PA.  She married Arthur M. Ginter in 1942 in Akron, Ohio. Alice worked at Goodyear Aircraft as a Rosie Riveter on the Corsair Airplane during WW II. After the war, they returned to Coalport, PA where their only daughter, Shirley, was born in 1947. Jiggs worked for McGregor Shirt and Van Husen Shirt Companies and James Industry which produced the Slinky toys. Jiggs was a member of the VFW, Moose and Fire Ladies Auxiliaries. She had a love for gardening and working outdoors. Her husband Art passed in 1975 and she married Bob Leyo in 1978 who died in 1986. Alice returned to Ohio in 2012 and lived with her daughter and son-in-law Shirley and Ken. 

Preceded in death by sister Dorothy Petrusky and brothers Roger and Dick Mulhollem. She is survived by daughter and son-in-law Shirley and Ken Morris; grandson Gregory (Jennifer) Morris and great-grandson Vance; and grandson Mark (Joanna) Morris and great-grandchildren Oliver, Harrison and Evelyn; Shirley’s best long-time friend who is like Jiggs’s second daughter Susan (James) Aldstadt step-sons Bobby and Joseph (Cindy) Leyo and their families; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. 

Calling hours are Monday 12 noon-1 PM at Arnold Funeral Home, Hartville. Funeral services are Monday 1 PM at the funeral home with Deacon Chuck Ivan officiating. Final resting place is Mount Peace Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice in New Philadelphia.
