Winifred C. Unger, age 93, of Canton, died Thursday afternoon in Aultman Hospital. Winnie was born in Massillon, OH on March 28, 1919 to the late William O. and Mary A. (Bender) McCollum. A 1937 graduate of Massillon Washington High School she was a member of Christ Presbyterian Church. Winnie was an avid bridge player and loved playing cards most recently with her friends at the Canton Regency. She also loved to fish and was devoted to her family as they spent many times together at Severn Lodge in Ontario Canada since the 50's. In addition to being a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother she was a very supportive, devoted and loving wife to her husband of 64 years Judge James R. Unger throughout his professional career, he preceded her in death April 4, 2010. In addition to her parents and husband Winnie was preceded in death by son-in-law: John Johnston and by 3 sisters and 3 brothers: Gladys Kinsey, Beulah Scott, and Mildred Souers, Ernest, Curtis and Paul McCollum. Winnie is survived by 2 daughters: Peggy Johnston of Canton, Mary Lou (Charles) Reiman of Massillon. Son: James (Rachel) Unger of Brewster, NY. Grandchildren: Jeffrey & Benjamin Unger, Mark (Alice) Johnston, Mike Johnston, Jeff (Lani) Johnston, Amy (Nathan) Sikora, Matthew (Janna) Ernst & Daniel (Anne) Reiman. Great grandchildren: Luke & Matt Johnston, Anna & Nathan Sikora, Madeleine & Margaret Ernst. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the staff of the Canton Regency and Aultman Hospital for the loving care provided to Winnie. Funeral service will be 12 Noon Monday in Christ Presbyterian Church with Pastor Wendy Bausman-Gray officiating. Interment will be in North Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call on Monday from 10 to 11:45 A.M. in the Church. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Camp Wakonda c/o Christ Presbyterian Church 530 Tuscarawas St. W.
