William F. Zelonis, age 90, of Canton passed away Friday afternoon, September 9, 2011. He was born May 25, 1921 in Frackville, Pennsylvania to John and Anna Zalonis. Bill was one of nine children when America was going through the Great Depression. He enlisted In the US ARMY during WW II and served in North Africa and Italy with the 951st Engineers Topographical Company. Upon discharge, he learned the printing-lithography trade and worked for Klingstedt Brothers Printing for 52 years. He was a long-time member of Grace Baptist Church and used his work experience to produce gospel tracts. Bill was an avid reader and Scrabble enthusiast. He is preceded in death by his wife Rita Zelonis in 2000; a son, James Anthony; a daughter, Susan Rochelle; a grandson, Victor Zufall; and six brothers and sisters. He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Bill Allen and Shelia Zelonis of Sarasota, Florida; Carl Conrad and Catharine Zelonis of Naperville, Illinois; a brother Walter Zalonis of Springhill, Florida; a sister, Genevieve Christ of Pottsville, Pennsylvania; grandchildren, Val (Zufall) Stevens, Andrew Trbovich, and Darla Trbovich of Canton; Bethany Mikesell of Orlando, Florida; and Tabitha Jensen of Lakeland, Florida; great granddaughters, Sadie Zufall of Massillon; Adria Mikesell, Canna Mikesell, and Moriah Mikesell of Florida; and great grandsons, Caleb Mikesell, Elijah Mikesell, Gideon Mikesell, and Micah Jensen of Florida. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, September 14, 2011 at 11:00 am at Grace Baptist Church with Pastor David Ryan officiating and Zachary Wilcox assisting.
