William L. Yoerns, age 86, of North Canton passed away Wednesday afternoon, August 2, 2006 in Aultman Hospital. William was born on January 25, 1920 in Canton to the late William and Adeline (Looby) Yoerns. He was a WW II veteran serving from 1944-46 with Patton's Third Army 90th Division and was decorated with the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. Mr. Yoerns has been a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church of North Canton since 1948. He was a project manager with Macomber and Ogden Steel and retired after 25 years of service. Preceded in death by a son Robert William Yoerns; a sister Louise Rabatin, brothers Lawrence Yoerns and Donald Yoerns. William loved golfing and bowling. He was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather and will be greatly missed by his family and friends He is survived by his wife of 66 years Beverly J. Yoerns; son Jeffrey M. Yoerns of Canton; two daughters Judy (Pete) Melchior of Perry Heights and Cheri Leach of Canton; grandchildren Gina (Doug) Maragas, Pete Melchior Jr., Kelly (Paul) Mastriacovo, Tim (Tammy) Leach, Tara (Clyde) Cline, Todd (Melissa J.) Leach; great-grandchildren Tim, Megan, Tyler, Luke, Christopher, Kacie, Riley, Natalie and Samantha; nieces Theresa Bitzman, Patsy Fisher, Sandy Rank; nephew Lynn Seibert and brother-in-law Rich Rabatin. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday at 10:00 AM in St. Paul's Catholic Church of North Canton with Fr. David Menegay as celebrant.
