William L. Toles, Sr. age 95 of Massillon died Christmas day in his residence after a brief illness. Born in Grady, Al to the late Walter and Mary (Davis) Toles he had resided here since 1919. Bill retired in 1973 after 40 years of service from Republic Steel Massillon Works. He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife: Virginell Toles and a son: Vernon W. Toles. Survivors include his wife: Mary Toles of the residence. Four daughters: Esther Byrd of Columbus, Mary Byrd-Merriweather, Sandra Newman and Patricia Peterson all of Massillon. Son: William E. Toles of Massillon. Son-in-law: Early Merriweather. Numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Two step daughters: Debra & Linda Provitt both of Massillon. Four step sons: Thedrick Smith of Detroit, Larry & Michael Provitt both of Canton and Robin Provitt of Perry Twp. Funeral service will be Saturday 1:00 P.M. in Friendship Baptist Church 920 3rd St., S.E. Massillon, OH with Rev. Reginald J. Hye officiating. Interment will be in Massillon Cemetery. Friends may call one hour prior to the service in church on Saturday.
