William R. Saunier Jr., age 72 of Canton, passed away Thursday morning. Born September 17, 1951 to the late William and Catherine (May) Saunier. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years Betty, his daughter Amy Miller (Aden), his grandson Mason, his sisters Linda Eckroate and Patricia Lanser (Dan), several nieces and nephews and many extended family and friends. Bill proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Navy and was retired from Republic Steel, where he worked for 40 years. He enjoyed Harley Davidson motorcycles, camping, his German Shepherds, trips to Put-in-Bay and fishing, and most importantly spending time with his grandson, who he called his little buddy. Bill loved to be surrounded by family and friends. He didn't need or want to be the center of attention, instead, he found joy in the happiness of others. Per Bill's request, there will be no services. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Bill's name to the Wounded Warrior Project or your favorite animal charity. A celebration of life will take place at a later date.
