Reber

William Thomas Reber was born May 26, 1922 in Auburn, New York to parents, James and Amelia Reber, of Owasco Road. He graduated from Auburn East High School in 1940 and the following year from Mercersburg Academy, Mercersburg, Pennsylvania. After a year at Cornell University, Bill enlisted in the Army Air Corp and spent his entire war effort in the Azores with the 92nd engineering division building runways on Terceira Island. Following WWII he enrolled in and graduated with distinction (1948) from Babson University with a bachelor degree in business management. He spent his entire working career in Baltimore, MD in many entrepreneurial endeavors, mainly in the construction and real estate businesses. Bill served as president of the Tower Club, squadron leader of the Air Force Association and a member of the Antique Automobile Club. Upon his retirement in 1990 he moved back to Auburn into the family house where he and his sister, Anne, were raised. Bill enjoyed golf, playing bridge, boats of all kinds and old cars. He was an extensive world traveler. His last move from Auburn was in 2013 to North Canton, Ohio where he lived out his years with his wife, Sudee. He was preceded in death by both his parents and brother-in-law, Dr. George Matthews. Bill was married to Susan DeVries in 2003 and is survived by her and her three daughters, Judy (Frank) Serra, Janet (Thom Strnad) DeVries and Jill DeVries all of Ohio; his beloved only sibling, Anne Matthews of Johnstown, PA and her three children, James (Valerie) Matthews of Coraopolis, PA, Jane (Charlie) Austin of Mechanicsburg, PA and John (Nancy) Matthews of Murrysville, PA also survive him. Bill leaves nine grand and a dozen great grand nieces and nephews scattered around Ohio, Pennsylvania and New England. William Thomas died at 96 years of age on December 1, 2018 and will return for a final time to Auburn to be buried in Fort Hill Cemetery, Auburn, NY alongside his parents Jim and Megs.
