Patton
May 31, 1936 – August 1, 2024
William E. Patton, age 88, of North Canton, passed away peacefully on August 1, 2024, at the Sanctuary Grande. He was born on May 31, 1936, in Canton, Ohio, to Jesse and Ruth (Robson) Patton, as the younger of identical twin brothers.

After graduating from Marlboro High School, he pursued higher education at Kent State University. His career spanned over 35 years as an executive with Perry Rubber and later Smith and Nephew, during which he traveled extensively worldwide. William's innovative contributions to the surgical and examination gloves resulted in holding two U.S. patents for medical device packaging. For five years after the Massillon company was sold, he served as Vice President of Regulatory Affairs for Omni International in Hat Yai, Thailand. He was also honored to be included in the Marquis Who's Who, receiving national recognition for his achievements.
An avid car enthusiast, William took great pride in his 1972 Chevrolet Stingray. His passion for automobiles was a lifelong interest that brought him much joy.
William was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Shirley Rae Ashley, and his son, Jeff. He is survived by his son Steve Patton; identical twin brother, Robert Patton; nieces Kim Brown and Pam Scott; and great-nieces and nephews Weston Brown, Michael Scott, Makenna Brown, and William Scott.
