William S. "Bill" Manheim, age 80, of Canton passed away at Mercy Medical Center on Monday, September 30, 2013. Bill was born on November 6, 1932 in Canton and graduated from Timken High School in 1951. He attended The Ohio State University and Kent State University. He served in the U.S.Army Reserves during his time in college. Bill was a longtime member of Temple Israel. He was also a former member of Temple Israel Brotherhood. He was a Lifetime Charter member of the American Motorcycle Association, as well as a member of the Professional Photographers' of America and the Society of Northeast Ohio Professional Photography. He was Past President of the PTA at Frazer Elementary School and active in the Downtown Canton Association. For many years Bill owned and operated Swank Man's Shop in Downtown Canton. In addition, he owned and operated Bill Manheim Photography in Canton. He was well-known locally for his photographic expertise and mentored many up and coming photographers in the area. Bill had a true passion for photography and in photographing commercial and wedding photography. He worked alongside his loving wife, Ilene for many years while operating his photography business. Another passion of Bill's was his love for racing motorcycles, speed boats and race cars. He was most well-known for riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle and winning many awards for maintaining such a beautiful bike and being the most "senior" rider at local motorcycle rally events. Bill is survived by his two sons, Steven of Vermilion and Marc of Canton, one sister, Shirley Manheim Holtzman and brother-in-law Martin Holtzman of St.Louis, in addition to his nephew James Holtzman of St. Louis and his niece Vickie Dumas of Cary, North Carolina. He is preceded in death by his wife Ilene and by his parents Myer and Esther Manheim. The family would like to send their sincere appreciation for all the love and support provided to Bill over the years by his devoted extended family of friends from all over the community. The family would also like to send their gratitude for the wonderful treatment provided to Bill from the staff of Mercy Medical Center's Intensive Care Unit. A graveside service will held on Wednesday, October 2, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at North Lawn Cemetery with Rabbi Jon Adland officiating.
