William A. Deames Age 97. America lost another member of its greatest generation when Bill Deames passed away February 11, 2015. A Canton native and McKinley H.S. graduate, he worked at Ohio Power and American Electric Power for over forty years. Bill was a WWII veteran and proud member of the U.S. Navy Seabees in the Pacific Theater. He now rejoins his beloved wife of 71 years, Ethel J. Deames . Together they had three children; Billy Deames (Marilyn) of Destin, Fl., Kitty Burgett of Canton, and Dotty Hartzell of Bolivar. He is survived by seven grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. Bill was a 32nd Degree Mason and member of the William McKinley Lodge 431 F&AM, a member of Scottish Rite Valley of Canton, past Monarch of the Nazir Grotto, and the senior member of the Bolivar Army Navy Garrison 1982. Until just a few weeks ago, Bill was an active volunteer at the Hennis Care Centre in Bolivar. In lieu of flowers, remembrances to honor Bill's memory can be made to a charity of your choice. A memorial service will be held at 11 am, Monday February 16, 2015 in the Arnold Funeral Home, 1517 Market Ave. N. in Canton, with Reverend Thomas Dunkle officiating.
