Obituary

On January 14, 2021 our beloved Bill fought his final battle in a 30 year war with illnesses. He died at home, surrounded by his family.

Bill was a South Akron kid who graduated from Lincoln Elementary, South High, and Akron University. He was employed by and retired from the Terex Division of General Motors. After retirement, he returned to South Akron to work as the Chief Operating Officer of OPEN M ministries.

He was preceded in death by his parents Emily and Vernon Brown, his brother Ed Brown, his parents -in-law Mary and Frank Sterling, his sister-in-law Margaret Rankin, and brother-in-law James Sterling.

Those who will cherish his memory include his wife Nancy (Sterling) Brown, children Kimberly (Jay) Wackerly, Susan Hazelett, Jeanne Everett, and William J. Brown.

Bill was "Goof Ball" Pa to grandchildren Jay Jr (Valerie) Wackerly, Abigail (Joe)Stephens, Alicia (Justin) Painter, Shawn, Megan and Cody (Ashley) Hazelett, Todd (Jenna), Ryan and Colin (Carmen) Everett, Victoria and Ziro Amador, Esperanza (Luan) Tufani, Nancy and William J. Brown Jr.

He looked forward to being a "Goof Ball" to his great grandchildren, Colby, Lily, Leopold and Dominic Wackerly, Grayson Sidwell, Logan Stephens, Aiden, Casen and Oaklyn Everett and Enoch, Octavia and Zion Tufani.

He was loved by many including "out laws" Steve Zonnevylle, Leonard Hazelett and special "girl" friend Ashley Victor.

Bill was a Christian, who lived his faith.  He served the Lord, his family and community.  He was a member of Family of Faith United Methodist Church in Akron.  He sang in the Choir, served on finance committees and any other tasks he was asked to perform.

Bill loved singing, playing golf, coaching women's softball for the Family of Faith softball team and spending time with his family.

Due to COVID restrictions, the funeral service will be livestreamed at Arnold Funeral Homes Facebook on Monday January 18th at 2 PM.
