William H. Altman, age 95, of Canton, passed away Friday, July 17, 2009, in Aultman Hospital. Born on December 26, 1913 in Canton to the late Adolph and Ruby (Wolin) Altman, Bill attended Lehman High School and graduated from McKinley High School in 1932. He served in the Army Air Force during WWII. He is a member of Temple Israel. Bill owned and operated Altman Jewelry Company which had stores in Canton and Louisville and retired in 1975. He was a member of the American Watch Collectors Association and had a passion for antique watches. He also was a member of Louisville Rotary and was an avid boater. Preceded in death by his wife Janet in 1990 and wife Mayme in 2008 and by a brother Robert E. Altman. He is survived by a daughter Patricia Aultman Korngold of Mt. Vernon, NY; and step-sons Gary L. Woll of North Canton, Steven Blate of North Canton and Ron Blate of LA. Graveside services will be held Tuesday at 11:30 am in West Lawn Cemetery with Rabbi John Spitzer officiating.
