Obituary

Wade D. Slusser, age 93, of Hartville, went home to be with the Lord, on Monday January 2, 2012. He was born in Alliance, Ohio on June 26, 1918 to the late John and Rose (Siegenthaler) Slusser. He served in the Army during WW II, stationed in Dutch Harbor, Alaska. He was employed by Teledyne Monarch for 43 years and retired as Production Control Manager in 1981. He was Past President of the Hartville Lions Club, a Boy Scout Leader for Troop 45, and a member of Dr. Roach Outdoor League at Berlin Dam where many enjoyable hours were spent camping and boating. During retirement, Wade and his wife Betty enjoyed wintering at Fiesta Grove Park in Palmetto, Florida. Wade was a long time member of the Hartville United Church of Christ and presently Grace United Church of Christ in Uniontown. He adored and was adored by his wife, children and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Betty (Nelson); children Joan (Rollin) Murphy of Monument, CO, Richard (fiancée Shelley Thomas) Slusser of Palmer Lake, CO, Jody (John) Hershberger of Hartville; grandchildren Colin ( Antonia) Murphy, Jesse Murphy, Mollie (James) Amer, Heather (Chris) Calabretta, Heidi (Harold) Mansfield, and Jeffrey (fiancée Ashlee Anderson) Hershberger; and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Preceded in death by brothers Earl, Harry, Charles, Ira, John and Paul; and granddaughter Mikaelah Slusser. Calling hours are (today) Wednesday 5-8 PM at the Arnold Funeral Home Hartville and Thursday 10-11 AM at Grace UCC prior to services. Wade's funeral service will be Thursday 11 AM at Grace United Church of Christ, 13275 Cleveland Ave NW, Uniontown, with Dr. Donald Nichols officiating. Final resting place is Mount Peace Cemetery. The family wishes to thank the staff of St. Luke's Lutheran Home in North Canton for the loving care they provided to Wade in his last years.
