Vivian O. (Rankin) Waltenbaugh, age 89, of North Canton died Saturday morning in Laurels of Massillon Nursing Home after a brief illness. Born in Massillon, OH, Vivian graduated from Mt. Marie Academy (Central Catholic), was a telephone operator at Bell Telephone during WWII, and a retired employee of Nationwide Insurance Company. She was a member of Westbrook Park United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents Harry E. and Georgianna (Davis) Rankin, she was preceded in death by a brother, Harry Eugene Rankin, Jr. (WWII) and her husband of 60 years Carl R. Waltenbaugh Sr. Survivors include daughter, Susan Haines of Dayton, OH; son, Carl R. (Karen) Waltenbaugh of Oak Park, IL; five grandchildren: Kristina and Sarah Haines, Mrs. Gretchen (Justin) Pinkerton, Mrs. Heidi (Alyxander) Parker, and Karl Dietrich Waltenbaugh. Funeral service will be Wednesday 1:00 p.m. in the Spiker-Foster-Shriver Funeral Home, 4817 Cleveland Ave., N.W. with Rev. Jonathan R. Reese officiating. Interment in North Lawn Cemetery.
