IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Virginia
Marquardt
February 2, 1919 – November 21, 2008
Virginia F. (Wecker) Marquardt, 89, went home to be with the Lord on November 21, 2008. Born in Akron, Ohio on February 2, 1919, she lived most of her early life in Akron. A graduate of the University of Akron, she married Marvin Marquardt on November 8, 1941. After WW II, both she and Marv settled in Akron, where Marv worked for Goodyear. In December of 1949, Marv was transferred to Indonesia. She followed in January of 1950. In July of 1956 they returned to Akron, and in January of 1957 they were transferred to Peru, where they lived for seven years. In January of 1964 they were again transferred to Venezuela. In August of 1973 to Jamaica, and in June of 1975 to Argentina. In June of 1977 they were transferred to Danville, Virginia, where Marv retired in October 1981 after 36 years with Goodyear. Following the death of Marv in May of 1997, Virginia returned to Akron in June 1998 to live close to family. Virginia was a member of The Whiskey Painters of America and the Danville Art League. She was an accomplished water color artist and painting was her passion. More important she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. She set a wonderful example for her family. She was a generous, strong, and compassionate woman. She made friends all over the world and was loved by all. She will be sorely missed. Proceeded in death by her parents, two brothers, a sister and her son Wayne Marquardt. She is survived by her son Tom (Pat) Marquardt, two granddaughters Rebecca (Yon) Holt, Kristin Swanson and four great-grandchildren, a brother Willard (Dottie) Wecker, and several nieces and nephews. A private service will take place at a later date. A special Thank You to the staff of Altercare of Hartville. In lieu of other remembrances, memorial donations in her name may be made to the Alzheimer's Association Greater East Ohio Area Chapter 1815 West Market St, Suite 301, Akron, Ohio 44313.
