Virginia B. Keene, age 83, of Hartville, passed away Friday afternoon, December 18, 2009, in Aultman Hospital. She was born February 16, 1926 in West Virginia to Adam Buck and Esta Mae Given. She married Foster Keene in November 1944. They had been married for 58 years when Foster passed away on March 15, 2003. Together they owned and operated Keene's Vegetable Market on Swamp Rd. outside of Hartville for over 20 years. She was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker. Her recent residence was at St. Luke Lutheran Home in North Canton where she waged a brave battle with Alzheimer's disease. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter Sue VanCamp in 1990. She is survived by daughter and son-in-law Virginia and Roger Carper of Hartville, sons and daughter-in-law Charles and Beverly Keene and William Cecil Keene of Hartville; sisters Pebble Humphries of Batavia, OH, Norma Cooper of Largo, FL; brother and sister-in-law Don and Faye Given of Sommerville, SC; grandchildren Donna Wolcott, John T. VanCamp, Jason Carper, Kelly Shoemaker, Joel Nichols and Anthony Nichols; great grandchildren Jennifer Spencer, Carl Spencer, Austin Carper, Xena Shoemaker, Brody Shoemaker, Kaylee Nichols, Emily and Audrey Nichols; and great-great grandchild Hayden Spencer. Calling hours will be Sunday 1-3 PM in the Arnold Funeral Home in Hartville. Family will also receive visitors at the John Taylor Funeral Home in Spencer, WV on Tuesday 11 AM-1 PM.
