Virginia DeSantis Jurewicz, age 89, of Canton, passed away at The Inn at University Village on December 28, 2022, with her family by her side. She was born in Canton on September 19, 1933, to Robert A. and Anna V. (Potente) DeSantis and is a graduate of Timken High School class of 1951. Virginia worked for the A&P Grocery Store in downtown Canton for 11 years, where she became the head cashier at age 19. When her children were born, she became a full-time house mother and volunteered for the school PTA. Virginia was a charismatic woman who connected with everyone in a genuine manner. Her care, humor, and thought-provoking conversations drew many toward her throughout her lifetime. She found art in all things and was known especially for her love of music, nature, and drawing.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley Thomas Jurewicz, in 1985. She is survived by her children Stan F. (Peggy) Jurewicz and Anita (Nick) Changet; sisters Phyllis (Joe) Amato, Antoinette Koehler; brothers Ferdinand DeSantis, John (Laurine) DeSantis; grandchildren Rachel Marie, Jennifer Lindsay, and Laura Anne Jurewicz, Adriana, Nick T., and Alex Changet; brother-in-law Frank Roma; sister-in-law Jeannie Jurewicz. She was also preceded in death by brothers Anthony DeSantis, Harry DeSantis, and Salvatore DeSantis; sisters in law Mary DeSantis, Doris DeSantis, Manoka DeSantis, Eleanor DeSantis and Kathleen Roma; brothers in law Phillip Koehler and Joseph Jurewicz. She is survived by many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be Wednesday, January 4, 2023, from 5-7 PM at the Arnold Funeral Home at 1517 Market Ave N. Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, January 5, 2023, at 10 AM, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Fr. Beneleit officiating. Final resting place is Calvary Cemetery.
