Virginia L. Stewart Carnes, age 92, of Canton passed away on Tuesday February 7, 2018 with family by her side. She was born the youngest of nine brothers and sisters in Guernsey County on August 8, 1925 to the late Myrl and Anna English. She was a hostess for Town & Country and a member of Canton Baptist Temple.

Preceded in death by husband Thomas E. Stewart, they married in 1946 and celebrated 52 years prior to his passing in 1998; and husband William Carnes they married in 2000 and he passed in 2003; her daughter Martha Sponseller in 2005; and her 8 brothers and sisters.

She is survived by her granddaughter Michele (Dennis Wood) Donley; 2 great-grandsons Brandon (Lexi Collmar) Donley and Gavin Parr; great-great grandbaby on the way; nephew Melvin (Pat) Harding; sons-in-law Thomas (Shelly) Donley and Michael (Rhonda) Sponseller.

Calling hours are Sunday 3-5 PM at Arnold Funeral Home Canton and services begin Sunday 5 PM at the funeral home with Pastor Delaney Young officiating. A graveside committal will be Monday 2 PM at Sunset Hills Memory Gardens. Memorial may be made directly to the family to assist with expenses.
