Obituary

Vernon Eugene Wolf (85) born March 1, 1932, passed away at his home in Hartville, Ohio on Dec. 26, 2017. Vernon was born to Ivan & Ruth (Shoemaker) Wolf of Hartville and grew up on a family farm on Wolf Ave. He married Arlene (Royer) in 1950. He worked at Monarch Rubber and Diamond Portland Cement in the early 1950's. In 1959, he began dairy farming which was his passion. He always took the opportunity to share his knowledge and interest in farming with everyone. He was preceded in death by his wife, Arlene, his parents, sister-in-law Roberta and brother-in-law Barry Deardorff. Vernon is survived by his brother, Eldon and his sister, Arlene Deardorff. Together, Vernon and Arlene raised 7 children. David (Faye) of Marlboro Twp., Dale (Joy) of Springdale, AR., Diane of Marlboro Twp., Debbie (Jim) Davidson of Marlboro Twp., Dean (Wendy) of Marlboro Twp., Dan (Marti) of Marlboro Twp. and Denise (Randy) Holben of Marlboro Twp. They had 22 Grandchildren and 39 Great Grandchildren that they loved dearly, making a total of 98 members of their family. Vernon is currently a member of Canton Baptist Temple where he has served as a deacon, a teacher and a bus driver during the past 48 years. The Wolf farm was always a place to gather. Summers on the farm meant family reunions and County fairs, with people coming from all over to join in the fun. There was always hand-cranked homemade ice cream being made and Kick-the-Can being played. In the fall, Vernon and Arlene would host hayrides for many groups, complete with a bonfire and homemade hot chocolate. Winters brought many family events including sled riding at Ivan's and Christmas Caroling around the neighborhood. Vernon will be missed but we can be assured that he and mom are "Strolling Over Heaven" together. Calling hours will be Friday, Dec. 29th from 4-7pm at Arnold Funeral Home in Hartville. Graveside service to be held at East Nimishillen Church of the Brethren Cemetery at 9:30am Saturday, Dec. 30th. Memorial service at Canton Baptist Temple on Saturday, Dec. 30th at 12:00 noon with Rev. Jake Tovissi officiating. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Camp CHOF, youth camp of Canton Baptist Temple. Arnold Hartville 330-877-9364 www.arnoldfuneralhome.com
