Thomas Elmer "Duke" Meese, age 76 of East Sparta, Ohio passed away Tuesday November 14, 2006. Born in Waco, Ohio on September 6, 1930 to the late John Thomas and Anna (Arnold) Meese, Tom attended Canton South High School and then was a Sergeant in the US Army during the Korean War. A lifetime career of serving the community, Duke was a retired Captain with the Canton Fire Department. Recently, he worked with disabled children at MRDD. Lifetime member of American Legion Canton Post 44, VFW and DAV. Tom was a well respected man who was greatly loved and will be deeply missed. His personality shinned like a brand new penny. A loving husband, father, and grandfather, he is survived by his wife of 13 years, Donna; children, Thomas E. Meese of Loudonville, Michelle (Courtney) Smith of Massillon, Tracey Meese of Canton, Douglas Albert of Canton, Debbbie (Jeff) Brannan of Massillon, Cindy (Bruce) Hadley of Gaithersburg, MD, Don (Patty) Glover III of Canton, Amy Sue Glover of the Home, and Danny (Stacy) Glover of Alliance; grandchildren, Amy Jo (Chris) Gambone, Zachary Thomas Meese, Shayna Mellie, Chad and Nicholas Brannan, Derek (Elisa) Sisterhen, Sarah Hadley, Emily Ann Glover, Brittany, Miranda and Spencer Glover, Ryan and Dylan Glover; great-granddaughter, Madison Gambone. Calling hours are Thursday 5-8 PM in the Arnold Funeral Home, 1517 Market Ave.,N., Canton. A Last Alarm Service will be held Thursday 6:00 PM by the Canton Fire Department at the funeral home. Funeral services are Friday 11:00 AM in the funeral home with Pastor Jeff Shultz officiating. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to services 10-11 AM Friday.
