IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Thomas
Collins
August 23, 1944 – April 26, 2015
Thomas (Tom) Collins, on a beautiful spring afternoon Sunday April 26th, left this world he called heaven, to go to the heaven in the sky. Age 70, born on August 23, 1944 in Fairmont, West Virginia to George and Helen Collins. Tom graduated from Rivesville High School. Tom worked at Akron Children's Hospital, Babcox and Wilcox before serving in the Army as a Military Policeman in Vietnam for two years. He successfully ran the Canton Cut Stone Company for 33 years. Here he had the opportunity of working with his mother-in-law Bunny and wife Jane. He retired at the age of 53. During retirement Tom was able to spend time doing what he loved with those whom he loved. Those closest to him knew he was a Fan of the Lake Blue Streaks. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. His days were spent drinking coffee and feeding his fish. Of course Tom spent a lot of his time with his beloved grandchildren. Keeping up with four ambitious grandsons, Zach, Noah, Josh and Caleb and one beautiful granddaughter Katie was something he looked forward to daily. Sport to sport, activity to activity, hunting season to hunting season and holiday to holiday these five kept him on his toes. Tom's truest passion was indeed his family. He lived for his boys Craig and Brian. He gave all he had to these two. To his boys, he was more than a father. To them, he was a coach, teacher, leader, fan, chauffer, ATM, but most of all their best friend. The reason Tom often referred to heaven on earth was his wife Jane. Married and inseparable for 48 years, his love for her was monumental. She is the reason he worked so hard, woke each morning and fought his illness to the bitter end. More than husband and wife these best friends filled their days with morning coffee, gambling trips, grandchildren and just soaking up the sun on their deck by their Koi Pond. She was indeed his everything. Survived by his wife Jane; sons and daughter-in-laws Craig and Jodi, Brian and Holly; grandchildren Zach, Noah, Josh, Caleb and Katie; sisters Mrs. Marlene Baun, Mrs. Sally Malloy, Mrs. Georgie (Don) McHood; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his parents-in-law Bunny and John Walter, and a sister Karen. Calling hours are Thursday 5-8 PM at Arnold Funeral Home Hartville. Funeral services are Friday 11:00 AM in the funeral home with Revs. John Bertsch and Ralph Huff officiating. Final resting place is North Canton Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Lake High School Athletic Booster Club. He will be missed. Arnold Hartville 330-877-9364 www.arnoldfuneralhome.com
