Theodore "Ted" Alfred Espenschied, age 73, of Massillon and formerly of Hartville, passed away Saturday, July 25, 2009 in his residence. He was born on July 15, 1936 in Hartville to the late Virgil and Iva Mae (Cramer) Espenschied. Ted graduated from Hartville High School in 1954 and served his country in the US Army. He became vice president of manufacturing at F.E. Schumacher Company and recently retired in 2008 after 57 years of service. He attended the Church of Jesus Christ in Rootstown. Ted was an accomplished wood worker and wood carver and enjoyed making duck decoys. He was a motorcycle enthusiast. He enjoyed his time at Regal Hall, a horse riding school and show stable in Louisville. Preceded in death by a daughter Jeanette Espenschied; sisters, Lois Meyer and Jayne Lehmann. Survived by his loving wife of 32 years Cheryl; sons and daughter-in-law, Stephen Espenschied of North Canton, Mark and Diana Maurer of Olympia, WA; daughter and son-in-law Robin and Paul Guerra of Canton; grandchildren, Alec James Maurer and Haleigh Cristine Guerra; sister, Alice Penton of Utah; brother, James Espenschied of Hartville and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held Thursday at 11:00 am in the Arnold Funeral Home in Hartville with John Ford officiating. Interment with a Military Honor Service will follow at Mount Peace Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday from 5-8:00 pm and one hour prior to the services 10-11:00 am, on Thursday in the funeral home.
