Obituary

We are sad to share that Suzanne J Drechsler passed away on July 24, 2025 at the Aultman Hospital in Canton, Oh after a long illness. Sue had faced the challenges of Multiple Sclerosis with courage and dignity, supported every step of the way by her devoted husband Peter who cared for her at home for many years.

Sue was born on May 22, 1955 in Meriden, Ct. the youngest child of Joseph and Alice (Larese) Philibert. Sue was a graduate of Platt High School and lived and worked in the Meriden area all her life until she and Peter relocated to Canton, OH in 2006. During her working years she held several positions as an administrative assistant at AMF Cuno and Bristol Myers Squib where she was known for being capable and dependable. Outside of work she loved bowling and playing softball. For many years, Sue and Peter enjoyed boating on the waters of Long Island Sound and surrounding area and were members of the Menunketesuck Yacht Club.

But Sue was at her best at home. She had a flair for entertaining, decorating and cooking. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting and made many wonderful pieces for family and friends. One of her pieces won first place at the Durham Fair in Ct. Christmas open house was a yearly tradition for family and friends. Sue so very much enjoyed decorating the house for Christmas. Her English muffin H'doverses were a requested family favorite. Sue was also a mom to many felines over the years and never met a cat she didn't love.

You can't talk about Sue without mentioning her sweet tooth and her love for shopping. Her candy bowels were always full and desert was a basic food group. She had a gift for picking out the perfect card or present and never missing a birthday or anniversary. She loved visiting the shopping outlets especially in Maine where they vacationed often.

Sue is survived by her husband of 37 years, Peter, sister Anita (Michael) Early of Southington, Ct, Sister Nan (Jim) Peckham of Windsor, Ct, sisters-in-law Lenor Carabetta of Westbrook, Ct, Pam Ranno of Deerfield Beach Fla, brother-in-law Dale Drechsler of Hutchinson Island Fla and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff of Aultman Hospital for the dedicated and loving care they gave Sue during her final weeks. Also special thanks to Tim and Lynn Farber, Monty Reed and especially Bonnie Darrah who provided comfort and support and a helping hand during this time.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a contribution can make a charitable donation to the Oak Clinic for Multiple Sclerosis in Union Town, Oh or the Stark County Humane Society in Sue's name.

Services for Sue are Thursday, July 31 at 6:00pm at Arnold-Spiker-Foster-Shriver Funeral Home, with Pastor Kevin O'Brien officiating. Friends may call from 4:00pm to 6:00pm.
